19th Asian Development Education Workshop

by Rowell D. Alarcon

Learning experience at its finest! I was very fortunate to be part of the 19th Development Education Program held last May 22 in Bangkok, Thailand. Asian Confederation of Credit Union (ACCU) provided the best cooperative teachers/mentors all over the world. Forty three (43) cooperative leaders in different Asian countries participated in the said event which was highlighted by the arrival of Mr. Andrew So, the founder of ACCU.

How to keep the Cooperativism, summarized the workshop that lasted for a week. Mentors taught about Leadership, Good Governance, and the role of Credit Unions to the community. I was really grateful to be with a lot of knowledgeable people, it humbles me and the learnings truly made a big impact on my Coop life.  I will use all this additional information to improve my well-being as I help the Cooperative continue improving lives.

As the saying, “Help Others, Help Themselves,” it is my responsibility to promote Cooperative values and principles, as it co-relates with my personal advocacy which is giving. Maybe not the popular thing to do, but it will help us reach a deeper understanding about life.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to San Jose Koop for granting me a chance to participate in the said workshop. Learning experience at its finest! God Bless Cooperatives! God Bless San Jose Koop!
