How to manage Cooperatives in this Age of Disruption by creating Culture of Innovation and Self Reinvention

As Financial Institution that plays a major part in the market nowadays we cooperative should not be left behind


in case of products offered andhow competitive our organization against big players that is already in place 

in our community.

Let us all face it that the Cooperative is not well known by the public that is in place in the community where they belong and nearly recognize it as an institution whom they could put Share Capital and afterwards they are privilege to acquire loan.

With this type of thinking that our people have we in the cooperative sector should always review and put some improvement in the existing product and new services that we plan to give our member and also the prospective members we are about to cater in the community that we are serving,

We cooperative’s should not be afraid to implement change and innovation to our institution because this changes is necessary to better address the need of our members before we know it they have left us and choose to patronize products of other institution that we cooperatives cant offer to them. AFRAID!!! But WHY??? Our decision for Change and improve services to the members might result losses and we as officer will be the one to be blamed in our decision. WRONG ANALYSIS!!!!! The Cooperative are guided by set of values and principles that is

If our decision are based on this Cooperative Values there is no way that the innovation that we are about to extend to our members/customer will result a negative impact in our Financial Status but rather improved our membership generation, more members choose our institution aside to other financial provider present in the community that we are serving. In order to have an appeal to the members always remember to COMPLEMENT, COLLABORATE, and have a JOINT VENTURE to other players present in the market place to produce a more innovative products that compliments the taste of the new generation of members to continue the existence of the Cooperative Union.

CORPORATE BRANDING – Our Members nowadays are more concerned and need some sense of belonging to fell that they are member/owner and not as a customer this is our unique difference compare to other institution, in the Cooperative they are part owner this is the area whom we should focus to deliver to our members.

Capturing the Moments, is one way to make them fell this sense, majority of people that we extend our products have mobile phone and are capable of connecting to the world wide web to upload information and picture of individual members status at the moment or in other word real time, address Family, Community, Service, Real Life Stories, Real Life Moments are among the current trends that will affect the BRAND.Another concern is the visual identity and also the Physical Infrastructure must have Local and Indigenous, Environment,

Customer Experience (put yourself in the situation of members). In order for us to cope with the age of disruption We should implement innovation and self reinvention by using the following;

Remember that the best leader never stop to learn and should welcome changes and innovation.

As Cooperative LEADERS we should not entertain INTERNAL POLITICS and Close Mind For progress will not apply but rather focus in the OPERATIONS, CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE, MARKETING and LEADERSHIP STYLE key area for INNOVATION.

ALWAYS REMEMBER Our members will retire of being a member and so as we as leaders the never ending Innovation whom we will apply and embrace today will be the guiding star of the next cooperative generation that happens to be our family members, relatives, and colleagues INNOVATE and REINVENT in order to make our members satisfied and if our members are satisfied that means a more fruitful institution that is TOGETHER MAKING US STRONGER….
